The main difference between FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) or DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) procedure depends on several reasons such as the patient’s hair loss classification, the size of the thinning area and the amount of donor hair available.

Both FUE and DHI are different types of hair transplant techniques that can help you achieve your desired look. However, there are some differences between the FUE technique and the DHI technique. That is why it is important for an individual to know which of these hair transplant techniques would be the best solution for a satisfied look. Some of these differences can be listed as follows:

The FUE method is ideal for covering large areas, while the DHI method offers a better possibility of achieving higher density. If the patient has severe hair loss and the bald patches are too large to be covered, even if the patient wishes to undergo a single session hair transplant procedure using the DHI method, he will be a better candidate for the FUE technique. The reason is that the FUE technique makes it possible to harvest larger quantities of grafts in a single session.

The main distinguishing feature of the DHI method from other hair transplant methods is that the DHI technique uses a pen-like medical instrument called a “CHOI implanter” which creates the recipient sites and simultaneously transplants the grafts.

The FUE method requires patients to have their head completely shaved before the procedure, while the DHI method only requires the donor area to be shaved. This offers a significant benefit for patients.

The DHI method requires more skill and experience than other hair transplant methods. This, in turn, requires doctors and medical teams to be exposed to a long-term training period in order to specialize in the use of this technique.
